Had one of those days today. It was pretty much summed up by these words when I went to the Dentist next door because I had a bit of a toothache.
He’s taken a quick look and said “You have a major catastrophe there.”
Not the words you want to hear when you are laying in the Dentist’s chair with various instruments shoved in your mouth.
So out comes one of my back teeth, along with a Wisdom tooth.
Not really a major catastrophe. Not even a minor one really.
If needing a couple of teeth out is the worst thing to happen to me this day, week, month or year I’ll consider myself blessed.
If my house burned to the ground I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
If my car was in the house at the time? No worries, I have a bike!
It’s the same in marketing.
What might be a major catastrophe to one person may be absolutely nothing to the next.
What might be a highly offensive ad for one group of people may be a highly effective ad for another group.
Different strokes for different folks.
Assess your market carefully and structure the best offer for them.
And if your a Dentist, maybe just say “You need a couple of teeth out. No biggie.”
