The biggest lie in business is “It’s not that simple.”
The biggest lie in marketing is “It’s not that simple.”
I did the marketing for a local restaurant a few years back. They became the top-rated restaurant in Queensland on TripAdvisor.
# 2 rated in Australia.
That filled the restaurant up most nights.
How did we manage that?
Easy – we asked only those people we thought had an amazing time to do a TripAdvisor review.
The owner: “How was your night?”
Guest # 1: “Really good, thanks.”
No request for a review.
The owner: “How was your night?”
Guest # 2: “Holy crap, the food is amazing. I want to marry the Chef. I love the little touches around the restaurant; the staff are incredible. Loved every second of it. We’ll be back!”
The owner: “Wonderful to hear! We’d be so grateful if you wrote us a review…..etc.”
Please avoid 3- or 4-star reviews. You want 5 stars.
(And yes, I know. The restaurant has to be pretty special to earn 5 stars, but tactics like these help.)
And yep, the dessert below is from this restaurant.

Cheers
