You’d think in a world of autocorrect, AI, and 14-year-olds who write better than most CEOs, spelling mistakes would be extinct.
Spoiler: they’re not.
Case in point – a client recently came to us after looking to purchase a piece of industrial equipment.
Selling for $1.5 million.
He told me he had concerns about the credentials of the seller, and subsequently whether the sale was a scam or not, based partly on a bunch of typos he found on their brochure and payment paperwork.
He subsequently looked deeper into the company and found the name they were trading under was was registered the day before – despite claiming a 50 year plus history.
Trust lost. Potential sale lost.
Spelling isn’t just about being a grammar nerd
Spelling isn’t just about being a grammar nerd. It’s about trust. Professionalism. Showing that you give a damn. Because in marketing, perception is everything – and nothing says “we’re sloppy” quite like offering “world-clazz service.”
At Tailored Media, we’ve seen it all. And fixed it all. From accidental innuendo in ad copy, to 20,000 flyers proudly promoting “pubic events” (true story – not ours, thankfully).
So, before you hit print, post, or publish, give it a once-over. It’ll save your brand, your dignity, and possibly your next million-dollar sale.
Cheers
